General Information

The Grand Railroad Station is a Transport Reward building that provides Passenger and Freight rail services, added in the Rush Hour expansion pack.

Railroad Stations are designed to be placed alongside the Rail Network, allowing sims to transfer between cars and pedestrians to trains, however the Grand Railroad Station is an exception as it is placed on the rail network.

The Grand Railroad Station is the largest Mass Transit lot in the game, however its' 10,000 unit capacity is shared with through traffic, so actual transfer capacity can be much lower. This building has no Landmark Effect — for the landmark building with a similar name, see Grand Central Station (DLC).

Gameplay

All Difficulties

Obtaining the Grand Railroad Station through gameplay is impossible, however the requirements are listed below.

  • Combined Residential and Commercial population greater than 172,000
  • Two small Railroad Stations (Custom ones will not trigger the Reward Script)
  • At least one station with total daily use greater than 4,000%.

Missions

  • Freight Train Mission: Freight Train Station Tour

Bugs

This transfer Capacity shown in the game's menus (25,000) is much higher than the actual capacity (10,000).

The transit switch entry cost of the lot is set to 0, meaning that using this lot can interfere with a healthy public transport network by encouraging more through traffic than it should.
